Anne
Ward - MD FRCP
Biography
Dr. Anne Ward has been an accredited NHS Consultant Dermatologist since
1996 and is on the UK Specialist Register for Dermatology and the UK
General Medical Council.
She graduated from
Queen’s University of Belfast in 1987 with an Honours degree,
coming first in her year. Undergraduate prizes include The Taylor Prize
in Dermatology, The Sinclair Medal in Surgery and the Whitla Prize in
Therapeutics and Pharmacology. She completed her MD Thesis in 1993 and
was elected a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (London) in
2002. Her dermatology training was undertaken in teaching hospitals
in Belfast, Birmingham and Bristol.
After her appointment as Consultant Dermatologist at Mid Staffordshire
General Hospitals NHS Trust, she became the Lead Clinician for Skin
Cancer Services for Mid Staffordshire (1996 – 2005). During this
time, she raised the standard of care for skin cancer patients such
that her skin cancer team was ranked first for patient care and services
in all of the West Midlands in the last two consecutive NHS Skin Cancer
Peer Reviews (2002 & 2005/06).
In 2001 she started the Photodynamic therapy (PDT) service for skin
cancer patients, and is still only one of a few doctors in the UK providing
this service. Having noticed the improvement in the appearance and the
texture of people’s skin receiving PDT for skin cancer, she subsequently
set up a PDT skin rejuvenation service. This interest in the aesthetic
enhancement of aging and wrinkled skin led to her further specialising
in a variety of non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as wrinkle relaxing
injections (Botox®).
In 2006, Dr. Ward
was appointed Lead Clinician in Dermatology at Mid Staffordshire General
Hospitals NHS Trust.
Dr. Ward set up
Stafford Skincare where she sees patients with all types of dermatological
problems including skin cancers and vulval complaints. She holds specialist
sessions for non-surgical cosmetic procedures such as Botox® wrinkle
relaxing injections and PDT skin rejuvenation.
She is a member
of the British Association of Dermatologists, The British Cosmetic Dermatology
Group, and The British Society for the Study of Vulval Disease.
